ssat

ssat is standardized school admission test. Many private and some Public schools takes the SSAT scores for the admission.

Test Process

SSAT consists of 5 sections :

i) Essay Writing -> 25 minutes duration

ii) Verbal Ability -> 60 questions - 30 minutes duration
         Synonyms - 30 questions
         Analogies - 30 questions

iii) Mathematics -> 50 questions - 60 minutes duration

iv) Reading Comprehension -> 40 questions - 30 minutes duration

v) Experimental section - it can be of type math or verbal for a duration of 30minutes and it is not included in the score

Scoring

One point is given for each correct answer.
One quarter point is deducted for each incorrect answer.
The raw score is the number of correct answers minus a fraction of a point for each wrong answer. Raw score is converted into a scaled score.

Scale for the lower grades(grades 5,6&7) ranges from 440 to 710
and for the upper grades(grades 8,9,10&11), it is 250 to 350

Since the score represents a comparison with other students taking the test, a test taker can achieve top scores even with some unanswered or incorrectly answered questions.
Your percentile ranking is based on comparison of your score with students in your grade only.
Your score compares your performance on the test to the performances of the other students of the same grade and genderwho have taken the SSAT with in the past two years.
